This is my favourite kiss on the show. Look at her smile when she looks at his lips just before she pulls him in, the way she caresses his neck and pulls him closer. This moment was so dreamy. Their chemistry is breath-taking.

RE: The Knight and His Lady -- The Lancelot/Guinevere Thread
No matter what it was their chemistry was always amazing! I could always feel what they were feeling in their scenes and it made it so easy for me to love them together.

After they've escaped and are sitting around the campfire, she's chosen to be beside Lancelot, not Arthur. The look on her face is... well, defiant is how I'd describe it. I think of that point, she was making it clear that she had made her choice.

I never thought of that, that's a really great point. And then the next day, after that tense campfire scene, Gwen happily asks "Where's Lancelot?" and then is just devastated that he left. To me that said having Lancelot with her was worth the awkwardness with Arthur. I also thought Gwen saying "I didn't even know I could feel this way about someone" was very telling. It was like saying nothing could compare to what she feels for Lancelot.

RE: The Knight and His Lady -- The Lancelot/Guinevere Thread
Merlin/Arthur is my main ship, just because of how much of the story is devoted to their romance lazy wink, but Lancelot and Gwen are my second favourite, and when they are on screen together I think they completely steal the show. Gwen's character and ambition is so often marginalized in the service of other people's storylines, I like the idea of her finally having something or doing something for herself. Also like everyone else has said, the chemistry between those two characters is off the charts! There is a certain desire in the way Lancelot looks at Gwen (even when they are both enchanted) that Arthur does not have. (I think this may be partly a deliberate choice by Bradley to stay true to his character and because he is an L/G shipper at heart judging from his commentary on episode 2x4 lazy smile).

I also really agree with this. Lancelot and Gwen are two of the truly good, serious, pure and noble characters on the show. Lancelot understands what it's like to be underestimated because of a lower class background, and in my opinion, for all his annoying self sacrificing, actually sees the real Gwen and puts her first (from the start). Arthur's interest is more selfish I think (he wants a mother figure to take care of him) and I don't think there's been a lot of evidence that though he cares about her, he really puts her first or is that passionately devoted or interested in her to the extent that Lancelot is (when the show does try to suggest he is it just comes off as out of character or unconvincing to me though obviously some disagree).

Likewise I don't think from what we've seen that Gwen is as devoted to Arthur or the things that are important to him to the degree other people--like Merlin--are or to the degree that she showed to Lancelot (the scene where Gwen makes fun of Arthur's vision quest and Merlin for waiting all night outside the door for him during it comes to mind). Also she loves him I think more for what the crown stands for and what she thinks he is rather than what he really is (while Lancelot is in fact all the things that Gwen thinks Arthur is--he just lacks the crown). Plus there's the fact that Gwen appreciates genuine romantic gestures which Arthur is just shit at lazy smile and at which Lancelot excels "my lady" etc lazy smile.

So in my head at least, the show had set up through the first half of s4 this great love rectangle where two people (Gwen and Arthur) were muddling through a relationship, while the two other people they really loved and who were really devoted to them and complimented them and loved them in return (Lancelot and Merlin) were too self sacrificing in that love to make their own case. There were so many parallels and so much subtext written into Lancelot and Merlin's story in the s4 premiere for example ("He loves her and she's happy" vs "There's no point in thinking about it, it's never going to happen"). It's a shame that after setting all that up they then decided to completely shut it down and do so while removing Gwen and Lancelot's agency in the story lazy sad. I'm still so disappointed about that episode and the lack of exploration of their storyline!

Anyways, enough of my feelings, I guess I'll share a fan video of them I like that expresses the greatness and tragedy of L/G better than my rambling above. The other videos I like of this pairing are joint L/G & A/M ones so I'll save that for another time or place as I've already put enough A/M stuff in this post and I don’t want to go too off topic for people that don't care about that lazy smile.

I have never seen a couple with chemistry quite like theirs. You're absolutely right... it really does leave you stunned, doesn't it?

The way she touches him is amazing.

You and I think so similarly on this that it's almost ridiculous. Yes, yes, yes to everything you said!

Feel free to share your videos that feature Arthur/Merlin as well. I've always had this theory that those are the two most compatible ships in the series... I think all of us feel that Arthur/Gwen is lacking and that's a very important common ground.

Here's a big post I wrote about it on Tumblr a few months ago. I think this sums up my feelings quite nicely:

I agree with that so much! I really loved what was said about their instant attraction. Considering Lancelot's appearances were few and far between, I liked that while they were going down the "love at first sight" route, it wasn't shallow. Their connection came from within and that's why it worked so well, plus Angel/Santiago have the chemistry to back it up. It was a mutual understanding for each other and they were equals.

I also got a kick out of what was said at the end. If I had to say what Lancelot's great flaw was, it's that he's too selfless, to the point of missing that he was the one she wanted. So somehow if his and Arthur's parts were switched, I don't think he'd banish Gwen either.

I saw this on tumblr a while back and thought it was the cutest thing ever:
